Greek law classifies fireworks in three categories: Category 1.4s and category 1.4g are characterized as consumer fireworks and they are sold from retail stores in consumers. You can buy them and use them freely without the need to obtain any special license. Category 1.3g are the professional fireworks. Only specialized technicians are allowed to use them and for their display the issue of a special licence from the Greek authorities in charge is required.
Yes, fireworks belonging in the categories 1.4s and 1.4g , are available to the consumers all year long. You can use them without time restrictions as long as you buy them from legal shops which have have obtained for their products market authoriasation.
The fireworks sold in legal shops have the necessary full market aproval which ensures their legal and free distribution in the market. You should also always check that the products you buy have clear and apparent instructions for use. According to the official statistical service of the Hellenic Police Force on the accidents caused by fireworks, there was never recorded any accident caused by legal fireworks purchased in legal stores. Almost 80% of the accidents is caused by the use of illegal, dangerously big firecrackers which are extremely dangerous and can even cause death. A 20% of the accidents are caused by makeshift fireworks and illegal fireworks, usually in holiday season, with no market authorizations from the competent Hellenic authorities in carge.
